Jones Nicholson's multi-discipline design team's expertise was provided during an extensive $12 million refurbishment of Club Central at Menai. The upgrade included the complete restructure of the internal layout, the creation of new alfresco terraces and upgrading all other services.
The complete refurbishment also gave the opportunity for our Building Services team to design for the installation of numerous energy efficient features, including fresh air heat recovery systems, energy efficient LED lighting and solar thermal panels, effectively minimising the running costs of the club. In addition, a hydrant service upgrade was completed to ensure compliance with current Australian Standards.
Our design teams had to overcome challenges during the refurbishment which included retrofitting a new roof within the existing gaming terrace structure and incorporating large open air spaces crucial for alfresco gaming.
Critically, our design teams had to negotiate time frames resulting from the staged works construction programme to ensure that the facilities remained open during construction, creating further engineering challenges. Jones Nicholson ensured that the relocation of the services vital to the kitchen operations and amending structural support of large roof plant platforms did not impede the operation of Club Central.
