Jones Nicholson was called in as remedial and structural engineers for this residential project in Sydney’s coastal suburb of Cronulla.

Due to the close proximity of the ocean, the balconies on the multi-storey residential building were suffering the ill effects of concrete spalling and reinforcement corrosion. Urgent and extensive repairs were needed to ensure the integrity of the balconies.

The project was particularly challenging, with large sections of the balconies needing removal and replacement.

Jones Nicholson provided an end-to-end engineering service - from developing the remedial specification through to swing stage inspections during construction. We also worked closely with the remedial contractor to develop a methodology and sequence of repair that would ensure the structure’s stability throughout the work.

“To see the balconies safely restored and looking its best again is great – for the area as well as for us at Jones Nicholson.”
